Being based in the Oldham area gives us practical access to commercial sites across Oldham, Chadderton, Royton, Failsworth, Hollinwood and surrounding districts. Why Choose My Elec Group

For Oldham businesses, our local base is combined with NICEIC Approved Contractor and ECA Registered Contractor credentials. We are comfortable with commercial and industrial distribution, testing and maintenance, and we plan work around production, access and safe isolation rather than treating an industrial site like a simple domestic installation.

Commercial EICR & Fixed Wire Testing

Oldham industrial and commercial EICRs can involve three-phase boards, machinery circuits, older containment and equipment installed at different stages of a building’s life. We agree the scope and operational limitations, carry out appropriate inspection and testing, and provide observations that help the dutyholder understand the actual condition of the installation.

From minor distribution upgrades to complete industrial and office fit-outs. Our certified engineers design, configure, and install robust three-phase systems, modern containment networks, and intelligent infrastructure built to scale with your operations.

Commercial Electrical Maintenance

Protect your assets and eliminate costly operational downtime. We offer tailored Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) frameworks and rapid out-of-hours reactive repairs to safeguard machinery uptime and corporate property networks.

Frequently asked questions - FAQs

What does commercial fixed-wire testing check at an Oldham workplace?

Fixed-wire testing forms part of the periodic inspection process used to assess an electrical installation. Depending on the installation, tests can include continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance and operation of relevant protective devices. The results are considered alongside the visual inspection and recorded on the EICR.

Why should older industrial wiring and containment be inspected?

Industrial electrical installations can deteriorate through age, environmental conditions, vibration, mechanical damage and alterations carried out over many years. Steel containment, cables, connections and distribution equipment need to remain suitable for continued service. Periodic inspection and testing can identify deterioration or defects that may not be apparent during normal operation.

Does every commercial installation need upgrading when BS 7671 changes?

No. Publication of BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 does not mean that every existing commercial installation must automatically be upgraded to meet every requirement applicable to a new installation. During an EICR, the inspector assesses the existing installation for continued service and considers the safety significance of observations identified.

What does a C3 code mean on a commercial EICR?

C3 means Improvement Recommended. It identifies an aspect of the installation where an improvement would enhance electrical safety but which is not classified as C1, Danger Present, or C2, Potentially Dangerous. Under BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, a C3 observation does not, by itself, result in an unsatisfactory EICR.

Can machinery and production equipment affect an industrial electrical installation?

Yes. Industrial machinery can impose significant and changing demands on an electrical distribution system. When new plant is installed or production arrangements change, circuit capacity, protective devices, isolation, earthing and the existing distribution system may require consideration. Planned inspection and maintenance can help identify developing issues before they affect safety or production.
